The AW team recently travelled to Suai, Timor-Leste, to install filters in 5 primary and middle schools as part of the US Embassy’s Ambassador's Small Grants Fund. 17 of our large filter units were installed in the schools, which will help to provide 1,198 students and teachers with access to safe drinking water throughout the school day.
As part of the project, we also designed and constructed 27 water filter table stands for classrooms to ensure each school had the resources to use the filter long term. The tables are made out of recycled plastic sheeting, incorporating hundreds of used pieces of plastic to give the products a second life, and reducing plastic waste in Timor-Leste. Teachers and community members were very impressed by the quality of the filter tables, developed by members of Feto Enginhera and Don Bosco.
This would not have been possible without the support of the US Embassy in Timor-Leste. Thank you for helping us serve the common good.
