The Social Business Model

Abundant Water runs a successful social business model based on a vendor distribution network. We seek sustainable and economically efficient programs whereby the 'bottom-of-the-pyramid' begins to participate in the economy and develops the capacity to provide for themselves.

TIMOR-LESTE: Our FLagship project

OUR OBJECTIVE

Abundant Water’s objective is to distribute accessible water treatment technology to 160,000 people in Timor-Leste by 2026

To achieve this objective, we need support from both impact investors and Government Ministries that will provide us with financing and support to reach new communities and markets.

OUR THREE YEAR PLAN

Abundant Water’s 3-Year Plan acknowledges and supports the Timor-Leste Government’s ambitions around Clean Water and Sanitation, set out in the Strategic Development Plan 2011-2030. Our proven product and distribution network stands ready to assist in the mission to provide all households with access to safe drinking water by 2030.

OUR PLAN FOR GROWTH

OUR ACTIVITIES

With this support, we can reach 15,000 Timorese in this plan’s first year by:

1. Providing clean drinking water to 10 more rural schools, that will reduce cases of diarrhoea caused by waterborne disease for over 2,100 students.

2. Providing clean drinking water to 10 more rural health clinics, enabling over 800 patients and 100 staff to access safe water for free throughout the work day.

3. Unlocking the entrepreneurial ambition for 5 more new vendors in rural areas looking to earn an income selling household water filters and spare parts.

4. Distributing affordable household water filters that will prevent another 567,000 plastic water bottles from entering Timor-Leste’s waterways and beaches.

These numbers will continue to grow with each successive year to cumulatively reach the organisational target of 160,000 people with access to safe drinking water.
