Abundant Water is pleased to announce the successful installation of 130 water filters, providing clean and safe drinking water to over 2,400 students and 139 teachers in Loon District of Bohol, made possible by a generous grant from the Reece Foundation.

The installation phase of the project included the largest schools in the district and the most vulnerable communities, particularly those in mountainous areas and on Cabilao Island.

Cabilao Island faces a critical water situation; however, thanks to Abundant Water’s expertise and Reece Foundation funding, all four schools on the island now have a filter in each classroom, ensuring that every student has access to clean water.

Abundant Water Program Supervisor Vaclav Rabas overcame many logistical challenges to successfully compete the installation, including transporting filters by boat and over rough roads, travelling to remote schools, liaising with local school authorities, seeking district approvals, and overcoming language deficiencies to teach filter installation and WASH training.
