Abundant Water wins grant from Canada Fund for Local Initiatives

Abundant Water is pleased to announce we’ve been found successful for the Canada Fund

for Local Initiatives grant! This grant funding will be used for a new project titled ‘Enhancing

Women’s Impact in Timor-Leste through Clean Water Solutions’, which will aim to install

clean water filters in health clinics and schools in Timor-Leste. As part of this project,

Abundant Water will also aim to train 5 female water filter vendors to increase the number

of economic opportunities for women in rural and remote areas. Over the next few months,

Abundant Water will conduct scoping for the project, visiting our planned project areas and

talking with the Directors of schools and health clinics in the areas about their situation to

identify the most appropriate beneficiaries. Following this, we will install the filters in the

target locations, provide training on how to use and maintain them and talk to the

community about their benefits. This will pave the way for significant interest in the filters

amongst community members which will benefit our water filter vendors, who will be

trained later this year on how to market their filter and develop a successful micro-

enterprise.

We’d like to thank the Canadian Embassy to Timor Leste for its support through the Canada

Fund for Local Initiatives. We look forward to providing further updates soon!
