The Abundant Water Team have hit the ground running in Timor-Leste.

Tristan and Tom arrived in Dili on Tuesday the 13th of November linking back up with Joanico. Joanico is fresh from spending six weeks with the team in Laos where he learned the Abundant Water approach and project management skills alongside Tom. The team are excited to take everything we have learned over our decade of experience at Abundant Water and apply it to communities in Timor-Leste.

Since the team arrived in Dili they have held meetings with CARE International, WaterAid, the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste, Nazareth Foundation (a local NGO), and our main partners - Rotary Club of Dili Lafaek and FOKUPERS.

The team’s initial program will include filter installations in 5 schools in Dili and Liquçá Municipalities. Joanico and Tom have met with 3 of the 5 schools and there is strong interest to get the projects going.

As the year finishes off the team will visit a few more schools and begin to develop plans for installation in the new year. Our schools program will be a good opportunity to highlight the benefits of our filters to the broader community. The team will look to identify local candidates from each school to promote the filters in their communities.
